Hey, it's 11-25-2002

First update in a week. Not much has happend, and I don't have any points to make, so rather than let my inner boringness shine through, I'll cut off here.

Nevermind, I'll let it shine. Not like I have anything better to do.

Got a job, despite a shaky start (late for the first day of work (by late I mean didn't show up)) it seems to be working out all right, which is good because I'm broke. Funny thing, all the cash that I figured would roll in thanks to this web comic never materialised, fancy that. So now I can make photo copies and ring people up with the best of them, which is kind of a waste. This is really a one man job. The odds of two customers showing up simultainiosly, thereby justifying my employment, I calculated to be about 1/10 in a given day. So I do allot of sitting.

The job starts at 8am, and to comply with this ungodly hour I was forced to buy an alarm clock. Satan must have personally overseen the invention of alarm clocks as a meathod of unbalancing otherwise good people and turning them towards evil. Alarm clocks also spread communisim, and should be destroyed for the good of the nation, but I digress.

Probably should have switched back to linux, or fixed the emacs spell checker under windows, but I did neither. I blaim the Russians.

I could continue to ramble, but I really should work on one of my many very important projects which the fate of the free world rest upon.

Speaking of the end of the free world, did you hear about that IAO thing? I've said in a joking manner for a couple of years that America is becoming an increasingly scary place, and I was going to flee to Canada or Japan. It's becoming less and less of a joke. Anyway, god bless this great nation. Big Brother may not be watching yet, but I'd start getting on his good side now.

Oh yeah, and google proper has a l337 forign language search. It's funny and usefull.

So anyway, didn't get everything accomplished that I wanted to over the weekend. I decided that I needed to script the comic, because my characters weren't coming out like they were supposed to, and nothing was making sense. I also decided that I needed something to manage said script, so I decided to make a little script for doing just that.

The main thing I wanted was a tool that would keep track of summaries of the scripts by date, be able to sort this list by characters involved, call the most recent actions of a character, link to the full script, and enter new scipts. I could have done this in perl, but I wanted a GUI, so I decided to do it in Java. I can't remember anything about java (I blame the sharpies I use for black backgrounds) so I spent most of the weekend re-learning all that. In the end, I might just learn lisp and make an emacs plugin. That'd be cool.

Other than that, not much accomplished. I did do a sctipt for today's comic. I think it came out well enought. Anyway, as good as can be expected from me.

And Bill correctly guessed who the character was from the 11th. So that's 0.50$ or nothing at your option. I'd offer the original picture too... Actually, I'm pretty sure you won't take it, so I'm offering the picuture, if you want it.

Back to Homework. By homework I mean Fallout. Unless you're my parents, in which case I really did mean homework.

Damnit. The windows build of emacs doesn't seem to have the spell checker. I wasted maby 5 hours of my life getting emacs, cygwin, and perl to run under windows and it still fucks up. Well, I'm not rebooting, and I'm to lazy to fix it, so I guess you'll just have to live with another round of spelling errors.

Well, it's another Monday night. I wonder if I'm ever going to get a comic out on time. Not that it matters, but really, my procrastination in all things is starting to get old. My parents called again today, as they do many Monday's or Sunday's, and they wanted me to explain the strip. The problem is that I have no real plan, direction or purpose other than to doodle, which I kind of enjoy. The comic just gives me an excuse, because I'm not very "self motivating" and I need things to have some sort of purpose.

Homework sucks, but I gotta do that too. Ah well, another day, another brick in the wall.

The fact that my parents read this site is a bit off putting. I don't really want to make or put up any more comics, which pisses me off, because I was having fun. Oh well. With any luck they'll never speak of it again. In fact, I'll formalism that request: "Mom and Dad, I don't want to talk to you about my web comic. I don't really know why I'm doing this. I know it doesn't make sense. Just leave me alone about it."

"but keep sending the money."

Well, nothing else I can think of worth mentioning. Not that any of the preceding was worth mentioning either, but I felt I needed a segue to the exit. Which is now.

Hey, it's 11-8-2002

Every time I put up a new comic, it strikes me anew how badly I draw. My handwriting isn't the most legible either. I'd like to say I'm getting better, but I still like the drawing of my very first comic the best. Oh well.

I suppose the point was never to be really good. It was more to keep me amused. Which it has been doing.

heh, I just looked over the comics from the beginning. I really meant there to be more of a coherent story.

Holy crap it just got early quick. I was just meaning to go to bed around 12, now it's seven. My roommates usually go to bed at a reasonable hour, but one of them's been up all night studying. I had no idea what time it is. To hell with this, I'm going to bed.

Hey, it's 11-7-2002

Well, I hate everybody. That about sums it up.
